Able Bodied Inc. is two years old!!

Today Able Bodied Inc. is officially two years old! We incorporated as a California non-profit corporation on May 31 2024 with a mission to help people with disabilities around the world connect and experience “able bodied” adventures. In our second year as an independent non-profit we worked hard on building a solid foundation for growth in future years. Here are our top three highlights from the last year

Quadriplegic friendly options: Improved accessibility with handcycles designed for quadriplegics or users with reduced hand function (ie. not being able to squeeze a brake lever or shift)

  1. The quadriplegic friendly Top End Force 3 custom bike has reverse pedal regen (video) and just finished a 35 mile ride (pics) with 50% battery left to spare. Ajay gave us a very articulate review of what this means for a quadriplegic (video).

  2. The Stricker Tetra Lipo is a wheelchair attachable handcycle (video) with chin shifting as well as a reverse pedal coaster brake.

Wiki/map platform: We launched wiki.ablebodied.org, our online platform that will eventually become the most comprehensive and up to date online resource for people with disabilities around the world who want to get out into nature. The wiki includes

  1. Handcycle map of locations where people can try handcycles (starting with 45 locations in the US and France, but soon to grow to hundreds worldwide)

  2. Our handcycle guide is the most extensive guide to various handcycles that we are aware of.

  3. Our grant guide and a MTB camp guide, are great resources for our Get1Help2 participants.

Growth strategy: Launched our Get1Help2 class of 2026 with 18 participants from California, Hawaii, Tennessee, and Idaho

  1. Three graduates already have their handcycle fully funded (Caleb’s bowhead video and Caleb’s thank you video)
  2. We now have a monthly meetup and WhatsApp group
  3. We are blowing up on TikTok with three new Get1Help2 participants in the first month

Thank you for all your support! We look forward to connecting more and more people and building the Able Bodied movement until anybody in the world with a disability can find a local resource or a place where they can get out into nature and enjoy our world without limits..
